Description

Ambiguously Human: From the beginning it's not clear whether Zeba is an underground human like Igam or Baraba, or something more alien. He eventually turns out to be an Earth Beast, albeit one that worked its way up the food chain. Masking Brace ( マスキングブレス, Masukingu Buresu): The transformation device of the Maskmen. They transform by saying "Aura Mask!" ( オーラマスク!, Ōra Masuku! ). Expy: Considering the Shout-Out to Robot Romance Trilogy, Igam is basically the Richter for Ial's Erika, although there are elements of Prince Heinel (being outcasts of the fallen royal family who wants to rise through the ranks of their kingdoms to prove themselves and restore family honor) and Teral (High-ranking female general who convincingly disguised herself as a man)

Underground Imperial Ninja Fumin ( 地帝忍フーミン, Chiteinin Fūmin): A Kunoichi of the Fu clan, a group of ninja who have served under the Igam family for generations. She is able to shoot shurikens and fire from her mouth, Fumin's abilities rival those of Haruka. She assumes guises like that of the idol Marina Shimada during Igam's plan of turning humans into Unglers. Though she learns her mistress' identity, Fumin remains by Igam's side until she is killed in the Underground Castle while protecting Igam when the castle is being destroyed. Then, the next player can either pass or introduce another wrestler by playing three cards and placing the strength marker at the top of the column. Knight Templar: Does everything he does in the name of restoring his family to power, though he was down with Zeba's invasion of the surface world and was even willing to murder his own sister. Fat Bastard: Is a noticeably portly fellow and is shown to be a massive supremacist who willingly aided Zeba's plans, including keeping the truth of him being a mere Doggler Beast hidden. Pink is promoted with 1 card. 2 grays are played so now gray is proven to be stronger than pink. However, 3 purple are played so now purple is stronger than gray and pink.Several characters' names were changed in the Philippine dub, which also changed Prince Igam to a female.

Mikaël (Takeru), Kent (Kenta), Allan (Akira), Héléna (Haruka), Barbara (Momoko) and Néoman (Ryo, as X-1 Mask) in French. In addition, the weapons names and transformation commands were changed in the dub: The Laser Magnums and the Turbo Ranger had the prefix Bio added before the names (due to the fact that the Maskmen in the French dub are referred as Bioman), the Great Five was renamed as "Bio-Galaxy Robot," the Shot Bomber was renamed as "Bio-Canon," and the Jet Cannon was translated as "Bio-Surf d'Assaut" (literally, Bio-Assault Surf). The transformation phrase was changed to "Aura suprême!" (literally, Supreme Aura!, which was also the name used in said dub for Aura Power). In the Philippines, it aired on ABS-CBN from 1990 to 1991 under Laser Squadron Maskman and it gained popularity mainly for being the very first Super Sentai series to be given a full Filipino dub.

In Indonesia, the series was first aired on RCTI in 1990 and later re-aired on SCTV from June 7, 1996 until May 23, 1997 with an Indonesian dub covering all episodes. Then it re-aired again from May 30, 1997 until March 6, 1998. But the re-run went unfinished with not all episodes shown again due to the impact of the 1997 Asian financial crisis. My Future Self and Me: It's only after meeting his future Maskman self that little Takeru stopped being a brat. Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger: Let's Do This Goldenly! Roughly! 36 Round Gokai Change!! ( Gokai Change only) Dragon with an Agenda: Namely, retaking the throne and getting revenge on Takeru for wooing Ial and apparently disgracing their family name. The Maskmen, alongside the Livemen, Goggle V, Jetmen, and Fivemen, emerge through a dimensional wall.Baraba and Prince Igam get theirs in the form of the Daichiteiken note Ground Empire Sword and the Igam Dragon respectively. Evil Genius: He is incredibly wise and has a vast knowledge of Tube's history, having served even prior to Zeba's Hostile Takeover. Killed Off for Real: In the penultimate episode he's felled by Galaxy Robo after doing his best to keep Zeba's secret hidden. Villainous Breakdown: Whenever a clue to the Lethal Doggler emerges, he desperately aims for that hint to be destroyed at all costs. This comes into the forefront in the endgame when a ball delivered by the Igam Dragon reveals that he is Lethal Doggler's son.
