About this deal

Finish: dry and tangy, saltier a bit briny, for me it clings to the sides of my tongue which is a strange sensation that tequila thing never really lets go. While many distilleries create either peated or unpeated whiskies, Jura 10 marries together the best of both for a truly unique Island Single Malt that is subtly smoky with a sweet Sherry cask finish. It's perfectly drinkable - just unspectacular, lacking much depth and with a slightly grating orange zest roughness that makes you pucker slightly.

I have two other drams that may fit this value point but I have yet to try them - Tobermory and Isle of Arran. g. purchase, investment) whatsoever based on the Service you should consider obtaining third party professional/expert advice on the matter, and you should consider whether such the decision is suitable and feasible with respect to (inter alia) your financial status and situation, your particular knowledge/experience on the matter (e. Inspired by our history and our island home, our whiskies reflect the unwavering passion and tenacity of the islanders, so it tastes distinctively better because it matters more to those who make it. Nose: Light and surprisingly fresh: oranges, cereals, sunflower oil, a pinch of butter, wood polish, with faint hints of salt, but overall notes of spring blossoms.A whisky only Jura could make, born of our island and still produced today in a bottle originally shaped to withstand the roughest of journeys from our home. S. Hailing from one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland, this whisky marries peated and unpeated malt with a Sherry cask finish to create a spirit that is a long way from ordinary. Nose: Others have commented on a strange nose; I agree it is distinct and a little pungent, but not that it is bad (or like tequila).

Welcome to Jura: A few miles off the west coast of Scotland you'll find our island: remote, sometimes wild, yet always beautiful, home to 212(ish) islanders, one road, one pub and one distillery. The nose is rather distinctive, in my opinion, as compared to the many other single malts in my collection. Tasted it again about a week ago while working behind the computer and last night really took my time to get to know the drink. The overarching flavor and aroma of smoked apricots is pleasant even if it’s not very deep or complex. Light sea salt and citrus with a smooth, faintly smokey, slightly peaty taste and short but satisfying finish.Crafted in unusually tall stills, matured in the fresh sea air and American white oak ex-bourbon barrels and finished in the finest aged Oloroso Sherry butts – it’s the perfect marriage of Highland and Island styles.

It’s like when you have a nice dry rub on ribs, a little sugary almost like brown sugar but then a little bit of spice.

I haven't been doing this long enough for too many nosing and tasting notes, but I can certainly give my impressions. All the flavour notes are there but it feels like they’ve been added as some sort of concentrate and that the whisky is a fiery, youthful one which has had this and colouring added to fool someone. Aroma is not intense at all, it's even dull, and adding water or ice doesn't really bring it back to life. It's a truly sophisticated and connoisseurial review to match a truly sophisticated and connoisseurial whisky. The liquid is somewhat viscous, leaving just a few legs after a swish and those resembling the veins of a leaf.
