How does the saying go? It’s better late than never. And today couldn’t be more true, because I’m going to finally publish my Filco Majestouch 2 Review. Because I’ve been using it for over two years, I have lots and lots of points to discuss. A little after using this keyboard for a year I did the unthinkable. I spilt a glass of water directly over the keyboard whilst it was turned on!

Those features are only the tip of the iceberg. In this article, we will be going through all the essential facts about the Filco brand. We will be going through their complete product lineup, and also, we will go through their brand history. The rigid case construction gives a sure and comfortable typing experience with a specially designed font, for better visibility and a stylish and long lasting appearance. The very first Majestouch keyboard was released in December 2004. The keyboard unsurprisingly sported a Japanese layout and used Cherry MX Brown switches. And lastly, it is compatible with both PS/2 and USB. Using it over PS/2 allows users to maximize its N-Key rollover potential. Overall, the Filco Majestouch 2 is the closest thing users will get to an endgame prebuilt keyboard that works perfectly for any task.

The Majestouch-2 features N key roll over, which basically means you can press as many keys as you want and it’ll have no problem what so ever registering your keystrokes. In addition, Filco is not a brand that is easily pressured by the different market trends that have raised over the years. When they introduced the Majestouch 2 in 2011, they had a clear vision for what their future products would be like. And their vision still holds true today, proven by the fact that their Majestouch 2 design still stands strong. The one improvement I would have liked would be to have a removable cable, rather than an integrated one, as that would allow for using just the right length of cable for my desk setup. This is a minor thing though. The latest model in the MINILA series, the MINILA-R Convertible, features Bluetooth 5.1 and can connect to four different devices simultaneously. It also has a USB Type-B cable that enables the USB passthrough found on top of the keyboard. Another thing worth considering is the design of their keyboards. Their offerings range from clean and minimal to flashy and creative, and there is something for everyone.

The style of the keycaps made this keyboard look very clean. It is also what made the Majestouch Ninja a true stealth warrior. Of course, today, there are plenty of high-quality keycaps that utilize various methods such as double-shot and dye-sublimation.Filco lives up to the standards that are set by other Japanese brands. Everything from the quality to the durability of their keyboards is top-notch. In response to this increased pressure and heavier focus on gaming, Diatec have produced Filco keyboards that will appeal to pro and casual gamers. We’ll see a few examples of these in the next section.

For years I used a (now discontinued) Cooler Master Storm XT with Cherry MX Brown switches, until it finally wore out recently. I needed a replacement that would not only be a joy to type on, but would also be something that I could use in a professional setting, and potentially use with workclient laptops which would not allow installation of additional driver software. After quite a search I narrowed down the choice to the Filco Majestouch 2, and I am rather happy with it. In addition, the Majestouch 2 isn’t about its looks, and this is a keyboard that focuses on performance. The Majestouch 2 is equipped with a wide variety of Cherry MX switches. It is also available in both a full-sized layout as well as a smaller TKL form factor. Don’t get me wrong, the box is made with good quality, strong cardboard that should hopefully protect the keyboard whilst in transit, it’s just a bit boring in terms of the unboxing experience. It’s just a shame FILCO decided to go with the pad-printed ABS key-caps, they’re super functional but after over two years of daily typing, they’ve unfortunatley developed that annoying ‘greasy’ looking shine.

The Majestouch Lumi S is available in both a full-sized and TKL variant. They can also be bought with Cherry MX brown, blue, and red switches. The first thing that consumers will notice is that it is a 60% form factor. This keyboard size omits the F-keys, Numpad, and arrow keys, making it significantly smaller than TKL keyboards. Overall I was thoroughly impressed at first glance, I’m hoping the rest of my review measures will be just as impressive. Let’s move on and take a look at my thoughts on the build quality.
