Robison accepted the Asperger’s diagnosis as an adult. And this was after it was laid on his son. In his 3rd book Robison talks about watching his son be used and subjected to what Alice Miller called The Narcissistic Wound, on a daily basis. It’s just that Robison has no understanding of this. And then they took him to the Yale lab, founded by a major supporter of the Eugenics Movement, and got him labeled. It was after this that Robison went and got himself labeled too. Since he has emerged as a major proponent of Autism-Asperger’s. To listen to him write about it, talking about the design details of rail locomotives and the giant diesel engines for container ships, Robison would have us believe that most all of the thousands of people who work in these fields must have some degree of Autism-Asperger’s, and the same for those with NASA. Were that to suddenly change, it would be radical, but it’s hard to imagine that it ever will. That would depend entirely on whether or not clinicians are ready, willing, and able to own their own stuff and to stop projecting their shadow feelings and judgments onto the client–to realize that we are all biased observers of others, one way or another. Personal truth is based on our own experience, and on what we feel and believe at any given moment, and definitely NOT what others project onto us.

I also really was impressed the comments of Salimur on this article from Shannon. Salimur’s comments seem to align actually with what this article and FMOSG. Me: “I just finished graduate school. This is truly insulting to me and I suspect others think the same thing.” Taking a child to psychotherapy, and/or getting them drugged, has to be one of the all time worst FYOG’s. And there should be legal consequences for this. So you can get drugs on the street. Or you can get drugs from the Mental Health System. But none of these do anything to restore your social and civil standing.PacificDawn, Thanks! I’m not familiar with Alice Miller’s work. Thanks for outlining so much of your perspective, and that of so many others with whom I’ve not previously been familiar! Do you think its merely because of the goodness in the hearts of kings and presidents, and because of the concern which they have for the well being of their subjects, that nation states outlaw murder, rape, and robbery? For your own good” is oppressive. Embedded in that four-word phrase is the idea that each of us doesn’t understand who we are or what we need. Someone else is the expert. Someone else has the privilege to hold all the answers, and if those answers don’t work for us then somehow it’s our fault. And, while it may be true that providers and academics know best the language and expectations of their peers, it’s still our lives that they’re actually talking about. It’s still our lives over which they seek domain, and expect us to be thankful if they at least deign to rule us with benevolence. https://www.translatoruser-int.com/translate?&to=en&csId=87b525c4-db72-4879-954f-d31422a03392&usId=eb6c4382-74f1-404e-b1b0-2aecc927856a&dl=en&ac=true&dt=2019%2f6%2f18%2022%3a11&h=LWubHnBBy9jGcsy03VKkoJfHBnlrbqhx&a=http%3a%2f%2fwww.champlacanienfrance.net%2f In Psalms 51 of The Bible, King David compares his remorse at having Uriah killed to having God crush every bone in his body. David thanks Him for it.

When used as praise, it's more of an idiom since the words are not literal. "You're too cute for your own good, kid!" Obviously no harm will come to this child because he/she is cute. The speaker is just expressing that this child is exceptionally cute.I think the first step in self protection is when we stop talking, stop giving out information. I handle my own affairs no differently than the CIA handles its affairs.

I like this article Sera. Great insight into why folks want others on these “meds” though not the “insight” shrinks commend. Euphoria: Fezco cuts off Rue's access to drugs after her fentanyl misadventure, being justifiably afraid that if she keeps doing drugs, she'll overdose again. Rue is not exactly grateful for this at the time. She does later thank him however. Not sure about the “I don’t know” part. 🙂 But otherwise you describe the standard power dynamics of psychiatry, which, as we all should realize by now, is primarily an institution of social control using the trappings of medicine, an adjunct police force charged with enforcing both written and unwritten laws. An unusual example in Daughter for Dessert. Mortelli beats up the protagonist while shouting, “This is for your own good!” It actually is for his own good, as it‘s part of a plan to get the protagonist acquitted of breaking and entering. I always took the time to explain why I requested things from my children, which taught them logic and critical thinking skills, not to mention further insight into whatever topic we were discussing. And I was always the parent who told the truth, so when my children’s dad or grandma started telling tall tales, my children would come to me to get the truth. Sam: I was gonna let you learn your lesson the hard way, but then I figured that you being in a hospital bed is just gonna make things harder for the team and your parents too.
