Description

The dimensions of the 2650e are 34 x 54.5 x 26.5cm (WxHxD). It’s not the bulkiest dehumidifier we’ve reviewed but it’s also not compact – especially in terms of height and depth. For comparison, the smallest desiccant dehumidifiers can be almost 10cm thinner and shorter. This isn’t a complaint, as the large water tank and powerful compressor naturally require more space, but it’s worth keeping in mind if you want to place the machine in a small room. While the 18 litre extraction capacity is lower than the 2850e, it's still enough for three or four bedroom houses. Be prepared to empty it regularly though - the 2.5 litre capacity is relatively small. The 3850e is has a capacity of 21 litres per day. This is one of the highest available for domestic dehumidifiers and it'scapable of reducinghumidity in four or five bedroom houses. The Ebac 3650e is the "little brother" of the 3850e listed above. It includes many of the same features, but has a lower capacity and correspondingly lower price. If you like the look of the 3850e but don't need21 litre capacity it's an excellent alternative.

When it comes to extracting moisture from the air, not many dehumidifiers do as fine a job as the Ebac 2250e. It has an impressive extraction capacity of 15 litres a day – a rate that was recorded under the rather tropical conditions of 32°C and 90%RH.Overall, the Ebac 2650e dehumidifier is a solid option for large homes. It has a large extraction capacity, 3.5 litre water tank and an effective automatic mode. Ebac are also experts at producing dehumidifiers for the UK climate, which is an often overlooked factor when choosing a machine. While the appearance of the 2650e is functional rather than stylish, it’s not an ugly dehumidifier. It has a hidden water tank that’s accessed by the front panel, which provides a smoother appearance than some of its competitors. Automatic defrost. If the coils start to freeze, the 2650e will automatically defrost while minimising wasted energy. As it’s a refrigerant dehumidifier, you would expect it to work best in warmer and humid conditions. Ebac claims it can function down to a temperature of 3 degrees Celsius, but the efficiency will be dramatically reduced. This isn’t an issue with the 2650e specifically – it’s a result of how refrigerant dehumidifiers work – but is important to keep in mind. It's also able to detect changes caused by bathing, making tea, weather or cooking, and then decide whether the machine should be turned on or off. This reduces energy usage. You also don't need to constantly worry about whether to switch it on.

Like most Ebac models, it includes a proportionate control system. While many dehumidifiers come with systems to adjust energy usage depending on the humidity, the 3850e has been specifically optimised for the UK climate. The water tank is front loading and enclosed. This reduces the chance of spillages and also improves the aesthetics of the machine. It’s easy to access via the front panel and there is a warning light when it’s full. Like most dehumidifiers, there is also the option for continuous drainage via a hose. Portability A strange quirk of the 2650e is that there isn’t an obvious “On” button. Instead, you need to use the fan button. This isn’t a major problem, but is worth remembering if you buy the machine and are wondering how to turn it on! Value for Money Like most dehumidifiers, this 2250e Ebac unit has an adjustable humidistat. However, there is no way of knowing exactly what level of relative humidity you have set. Instead of offering options in set figures like 50% RH, moisture adjustment with this Ebac dehumidifier is attained by selecting in-built presets. We are also disappointed that the water tank is just 2.5 litres. Be prepared to empty this often if you have a damp house. As it's capable of removing moisture throughout a four or five bedroom home, we would have liked a larger tank. The Ebac 2650e dehumidifier sits firmly in the “mid-range.” It’s not too pricey but there are also cheaper options available. Even so, we think it provides reasonable value for money, especially with the Smart Control system and large extraction capacity. Summary While the portability of the 2250e dehumidifier is disappointing, the appearance of the unit certainly is not. Straying away from the usual box-like design of dehumidifiers, this 2250e model sports a curvy top with recesses over half of the unit’s front that give it a non-industrial modern look. The tank is hidden inside the dehumidifier’s body giving the whole unit a neat streamlined look. Using the 2250e Today, Ebac humidifiers are mainly known for their Smart Control feature. This helps reduce energy usage and micro-management by only switching on the machine when it's required. Many people in the UK also like buying from a British family-owned company, unlike brands such as Delonghi. The Ebac 3850e dehumidifier is one of the company's most popular machines - and for good reason. It's the only Ebac machine to break into our list of the top best dehumidifiers of 2023and one of our top recommendations if you needa whole house model.

Auto shut off. When the dehumidifier is full it automatically switches off and displays a warning light. With its powerful 18 litre extraction rate, it’s built for homes of 3-4 bedrooms or up to five people. Quietness Like its big brother, the main downsides are that it's heavy and noisy. At 13kg, it's certainly not a lightweight or portable model. But which are the best Ebac dehumidifiers? And is this a company you should trust? Let's find out. Who Are Ebac? The biggest downside is the weight. While Ebac claims it's ergonomically designed, it weighs a heavy 13kg. This means it's not easy to move around the home - especially as it only comes with recesses as handles.

One of the advantages of the 2650e is that it comes with Ebac’s Smart Control system. This, according to Ebac, improves on the standard humidistat feature found on many dehumidifiers by increasing energy efficiency. Once turned on, the dehumidifier will monitor the air humidity and only start working when needed. Smart Control is unique as it takes readings throughout the day allowing it to determine, with an algorithm, the best time to run. The optimum relative humidity varies depending on the activities within your home and the weather outside. As the optimum relative humidity changes this means you would need to change the humidistat on your dehumidifier regularly; some dehumidifiers only have settings that are in 5% steps. This would mean that if the optimum is 47% you could chose 50% which means the dehumidifier will not run enough, or you could chose 45% it means the dehumidifier is running too much. As it’s over 10 years old, the Ebac doesn’t come with some of the advanced features seen on newer models. It also doesn’t include a laundry mode, although a boost option is available. Ebac describes the 3.5 litre water tank as large, but it’s around average for a dehumidifier with an 18 litre extraction capacity (yet still bigger than the 3850e). Even so, the 2650e won’t need to be emptied as often as smaller dehumidifiers.

A removable filter is included with the machine. This removes dust and other small particles from the air. While carbon filters provide cleaner air, they can’t filter smaller allergens and bacteria like a HEPA filter or ionisier can. On the plus side, the filter is easy to clean and there are replacements available. As you might expect from a premium machine, it is excellent at extracting water - especially from warmer rooms. It also has a timer and a clothes drying mode. If your home suffers from damp and condensation during the winter months, you're not alone! Many UK households suffer from this problem. In most cases, adehumidifier is the best solution. Ebac dehumidifiers are specifically built to cope with thevaried conditions in a UK home. The 2650e dehumidifier has a noise level of 46dB. This makes it one of the noisier refrigerant dehumidifiers on the market. If you want a dehumidifier to use while you’re sleeping or watching TV, the 2650e probably isn’t the best choice! Energy Efficiency It's been designed to work effectively in the British climate and can effectively remove moisture down to 3 degrees Celsius. This is impressive for a refrigerant model, as this type usually works best in warmer conditions. Lower temperatures greatly reduce its efficiency though.Other features include an air purification mode, for removing smoke and pollen, and an auto shut-off feature when full. The machine has two fan settings and an integrated handle. We’re impressed with the energy efficiency of the 2650e. It has a maximum power consumption of 180W – even when on “High” fan mode. This is less than most dehumidifiers and means it’s cheaper to run. Ebac dehumidifiers are a popular option in the UK. This is largely due to their excellent performance in British conditions, where temperatures and humidityarelower. While all the models on the list below refrigerant dehumidifiers, Ebac claims they can function down to three degrees Celsius (albeit at a lower efficiency). This is lower than many other refrigerant machines and makes Ebac models better suited to the UK winter. Other features include a full indicator and shut-off system, LED control panel (which isn't found on older Ebac models) and two fan speeds. The water container is front loading, which helps to prevent spillages when emptying the machine. With UK weather falling down to one-digit figures in winter and rarely going above 30°C in summer, this number can drop down to as little as under 3 litres of moisture a day. This kind of scenario is, however, not uncommon, and many dehumidifier manufacturers quote the maximum performance of their units in conditions rarely found within the UK.
