I was so happy to have been accepted by Netgallery to read Dead to Me as I am a big fan of Lesley Pearse and have read most of her books. The ending was a nice reminder of the true value of friendship and the strength of the human spirit. You can really feel yourself in amongst the characters in the storyline with the sights and scents of the time all around you.

Despite being from totally different backgrounds the girls become friends for life, or at least until events cause one of them to utter the words “You’re dead to me. Lesley Pearse is a naturally gifted storyteller and it's not every author you can say this about and truly mean it. Another fantastic book by JM Dalgliesh with a gripping storyline and plot, with strong characters, plenty of twists, and turns and revelations.Despite being a huge crime and thriller fan, (I would say 90% of the books I read are of this genre), I do love a Lesley Pearse book, I’ve read every and I mean every book she has ever written and she never fails to let me down. From the outset it's evident that the two girls are from polar opposites of society and should never have come into contact with each other let alone forge a strong bond and friendship that will face testing times in the years to come.

Twists, turns, red herrings, mum, dads, foster parents, friends and Katy all make this a book that I could not put down. Dead to Me opens with the momentous meeting of two teenage girls from opposite sides of the tracks, who have more in common than they first realise. The plot lines are always tight and solid and never stray from what is going on meandering away from the essentials and venturing into mundane territory. She is ashamed of herself and these feelings of inadequacy impact all the various relationships in her life. But when they are forced to deal with past traumas, their marriage is tested and buried secrets come to the surface. I am a huge fan of Lesley Pearse and have read all her books and they have all been five-star quality. The blurb of this book asks the question will Ruby and Verity survive long enough to find their way back to one another? Ruby's mother is a prostitute and Ruby has to steal to survive whilst Verity's family are well to do. They meet as teenagers in London, although they have totally different lives and backgrounds they become firm friends.
