In a certain place, there are two high schools next to each other. Chidori High School, a low-level boys' school where idiots gather, and Kikyo Girls' school, a prestigious school for young ladies. Rintaro Tsumugi, a tough-looking and quiet second year student at Chidori High School, meets Kaoruko Waguri, a girl who came as a customer while helping out at her parents' cake shop. Rintaro feels comfortable spending time with his girlfriend Kaoruko, but she's a student of Kikyo Girls who absolutely hates Chidori...!? The story in itself is simple and overdone, the typical Romeo and Juliet. But the author knows how to use that to their advantage, drawing out the characters to live through these situations and become their own. The only point down is that it's obviously not for everyone along with the simplistic nature of the story. It's a manga that you won't get hooked into immediately, but after reading it through, I truly believe that in all romance or even in general, manga I've read - this one has the most simple yet realistic writing of characters.

It all feels so natural since it's not the story that's driving the characters - it's the characters driving the story forwards. There has been plenty of stories doing this, but not often do you see something of this quality. Kaoruko Waguri (FMC) - Petite beautiful cutie (my TYPE). On the outside she may even seem perfect but as you dive deeper into the manga you will see that this character is also just trying to find her own way in the world. While the characters' clothing in itself isn't too overly interesting due to the nature of school uniforms, it uses this fact to their advantage; showing how the "lesser" school, Chidori, gets to express more with their uniforms. One would wear just a white shirt, another wear a hoodie underneath the uniform, and so on, While the other school Kikyo would wear almost the exact same outfit and style for elegance and unity.

In a certain place, there are two high schools next to each other. Chidori High School, a low-level boys' school where idiots gather, and Kikyo Girls' school, a prestigious school for young ladies. Rintaro Tsumugi, who attends there, meets Kaoruko Waguri... A vivid youthful school story woven by two people who are "close yet far"!! This is your typical melodramatic romance manga where nobody seems to act like human beings, but rather like actors in some larger than life play. Something as commonplace as going to the beach with friends is turned into an absurdly cathartic, life-changing event, with hearty and sobbing speeches about friendship and how much life has changed and how much they've been through in just those few chapters. And everyone is constantly on edge about something or other, and then nothing can be solved in a subtle or simple manner, everything should and will be aggrandised for dramatic effect. People are constantly walking on eggshells, blushing, One day at work, Rintarou sees a customer at a table, but she runs off before he can talk to her. The next day, he receives an apology from the girl, Kaoruko Waguri, who explains that she did not run away because of his appearance and that she believes Rintarou is a kind-hearted person. Although he is not used to Kaoruko's bright personality, Rintarou looks forward to forming a friendship with her. There is just one obstacle that stands in his way: Kaoruko is a Kikyo student!

Interest Stacks

to tell be it about family problems, mental health and friendships etc. They have their own personalities and quirks that make you root for them ALL there's literally no unlikeable characters in this manga. What's more to be said? Read it, I've said everything I can, the rest is up for you to discover yourself. Read it!

No over dragged drama, no harem, beautiful characters, amazing peak realistic relationship with concise communication in which you would be overdosed with happiness watching their family and friend interactions it is beautiful, what more could you want? Just read it. ITS SO WHOLESOME AND ADDICTIVE AND JUST GREAT.But this manga, it's such a simple story yet expertly written that most romance never did or never could. Ok, here we are. I have the character rating so high not because they are the most unique, trope-defying characters of all time, but because they are some of the most believable characters that I've read in a Japanese romance series. Each of the character is both appropriately teenage, but also appropriately mature; they react to situations in ways I can honestly believe a real-life teenager of their personality type would do, with absolutely minimal anime bullshit going on. On top of that, the way they are written makes them incredibly lovable, like you just want to give them a hug or something. Now, I'm not going to claim these characters are even remotely on the level of the likes of Berserk, Monster, or any of the best of the best series out there, that'd just be straight up disrespectful to them. However, within the romance genre, especially those written by the Japanese, you will very rarely find more lovable or relatable characters in the medium and are the best part about the series. Instead, what you get is just a simple yet beautiful story. The devil is in the details, and if you've already read a lot of manga, I can tell you that the story here paves its own paths in its own special way. You won't be disappointed if you remember that these characters are still technically kids. If you're an adult and self-insert yourself Two rival schools stand next door to each other: one for elite ladies, one for good-for-nothing boys. But one of those boys might just be a naturally chivalrous diamond in the rough, and one of those girls might be a little more open-minded than is proper… I was also impressed by the depth of Rintaro’s parents. They’re surprisingly well-developed characters, you can feel his mom’s pride in her son and his dad’s passion in baking. They, too, feel like real people. They also give excellent advice and treat their son with utmost love. I’m realizing that I’m struggling to find ways to express exactly why these characters break the mold, but perhaps it’s simply in the way the manga is written. No moment feels cheap. No moment feels empty. Everything is working towards something, the gears of the manga are always moving, and I love that.
